Jack in the Ditch Decides 2020 Senior Fours

It was the closest of games in the final of the BCC 2020 Senior Fours. Contesting the final were two highly credentialed teams. The Ettalong team of Gary Frost, Tony Leslie, Alan Lewin and Phil Westcott are the current State Champions and were defending champions of the event. They were up against the high profile Terrigal Side of Terry Hughes, Garry Murphy, Billy Constantine,and Tony Shoebridge.

On the 21st end the Terrigal side were leading by one shot (16-15) but the Ettalong side were able to level at 16 all forcing the game into an extra end. The leads played some tight draws with Ettalong holding before Garry Murphy drove the jack into the ditch with his bowl ending up closer to the jack than the edge of the green (see photo below).

It was a sudden ending, shattering the Ettalong teams hopes of defending their State Title, but in such a close game it was always likely that luck would decide the winner. Congratulations to Terry Hughes, Garry Murphy, Billy Constantine,and Tony Shoebridge. who will now be Zone 15's entry in the state championships and they will be a very strong contender.
