BCC Mournes the Passing of Her Majesty the Queen

Bowls Central Coast is saddened to learn of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.  In 1954 following the Queen's initial visit to Australia, the NSW Bowling Association became the Royal NSW Bowling Association and until the last 10 years or so, was referred to by most bowlers as "The Royal".    Bowling Clubs embraced this honour and even today you can still find a photo of the Queen in many Bowling Clubs.   The Central Coast District Bowling Association / Zone 15 Inc was created in 1996 as a Zone of "The Royal".  It is for this reason that at most official visits by Zones to Clubs a toast is made to Her Majesty the Queen and the People of Australia (a toast actually approved by Her Majesty).

BCC joins with Bowls NSW in extending our condolences to the Royal Family and to Lawn Bowlers throughout the world who recognised Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as their Queen.

Her Majesty was an occasional visitor of the Royal Household Bowling Club in the grounds of Windsor Castle in Berkshire, where she met players and enjoyed watching the games.
