CLUB OF THE YEAR 2019
$1000
Cash Award & Prestige Plaque
Clubs are
invited to nominate their Bowling Club for the prestigious award of “Club of
the Year” which seeks to reward a Club’s commitment and performance against key
criteria in the administration, promotion and conduct of the sport of lawn
bowls within their local community.
Whilst
overall financial performance is important this award does not include the
financial performance of the licensed premises, Bistro and/or poker machines.
Nominations
should be submitted in writing and based upon performance and achievements
against the following key criteria which are listed below in no particular
order. It is anticipated that the
winning Club will meet most of these criteria.
q The contribution of Volunteer workers is recognized by the
Club. This could be done by supporting the annual BCC Volunteers Day and
awarding Zone and State Merit Badges at Club President’s, Presentation, or
Members days or other similar events.
q The club actively participates in recruitment promotions like
Registration, Friendship
& Buddy Days and in-house Barefoot Bowling promotions.
q Presentation of club facilities is of a high standard.
q The Club Culture reflects community standards through its
players' good conduct, good sportsmanship and fair play. A Code of Conduct is
in existence and is applied appropriately in respect of departures from those
standards.
q The Club participates in most if not all Zone and State
events, including Patron’s Graded Pairs, Championships, Pennants, and Midweek
Super 9’s. The Club takes pride in its representative bowlers and supports them.
q A mentoring program for new members ensures they are made
to feel welcome. The Club conducts special events for new bowlers and
encourages new bowlers to participate in “Rookie” events.
q The Club encourages its members to become active accredited
Coaches and Umpires and encourages reaccreditation.
q Your Club provides competition and social play across all
age groups by encouraging its bowlers to participate in Junior, Senior or
Veteran Championship events and encourage their mature age bowlers to attend the
annual Vets & Super Vets Day.
q The Club periodically reviews its Bowls program to ensure
variety and their events are in line with the demographics of the club and the
wishes of its membership.
In
putting together your nomination a Club should seek to demonstrate excellence
beyond normal expectation against nominated criteria. This award is targeted at
Clubs across the board and the winners in the last three years, Ettalong
Memorial, Umina Beach, and Davistown RSL
reflect how attention to detail can set one club apart from the others
