Experience Shines Through in Zone Singles

Three prestige Zone Singles titles were contested at The Entrance BC on Saturday 2nd September with experience shining through in the Open and Seniors titles.
Ettalong’s Aron Sherriff claimed his fourth Open Zone Singles title (2005, 08, 14 & 17) in defeating Umina’s Shane Starkey who was the Bowls Central Coast “Rookie of the Year” in 2016. It was an outstanding achievement by Shane to win his way through to the Open Final and go head to head with a Commonwealth Games medallist.
The Senior Singles final  was contested by two experienced  Ettalong Club  mates in John Roberts and Phil Westcott in a tightly contested  and high standard game, with “JR” coming from behind  to win his second  Zone Senior’s title (2012, 17). It rounded off a top week for “JR” who was once again named in the Bowls NSW State Senior  side for the ninth consecutive year.
In the President Reserve Singles final (for those Grade 5 Pennant players and below) Bateau Bay’s Warren Power held the upper hand over David Derrick from Ettalong Memorial.
